Real quotation marks

I posted a comment to a thread on Dan Gillmor on Grassroots Journalism, Etc. about real quotation marks, typewriter quotes, and word processor quotes, or “moron” quotes.

David A. Wheeler has a thorough explanation of how to use curling quotes in HTML in a standard way that will pass validation. I'm surprised that so much web software is still letting the word processor quotes through.
