List Policy Member posting only: This list does not accept mail from non-members. Postings from non-members may be silently discarded. If you have a problem posting to the list, make sure that you have suscribed from the address you post from. No Cc: Do not Cc: any other address on mail to the list. This includes the poster you are replying to, other lists, and yourself. Mail to the list with Cc: to any other address may be silently discarded. Elitism: If the headers in your mail indicate that you are using proprietary software, your mail almost certainly will not go through to the list. You can always get mail from a proprietary mailer or OS through by modifying the headers so they don't match the regular expressions the list uses. Anyone can subscribe or read the archives; the test is only for posting. If you would like to participate in a free software mailing list with no header requirements, please try the Silicon Valley Linux Users Group list: svlug. No munging: linux-elitists now has more than 400 members. Most are "lurkers", people who do not post to the list. If you are a lurker, your address is confidential. When you post, your address should appear, without munging, in the list archives. Requests to munge addresses in the archive will be silently dropped or publicly mocked, depending on their entertainment value. Challenge-response: This list has zero tolerance for broken challenge-response systems. Subscribers responsible for sending a challenge to the list, or to any list poster, will be removed and banned from the list. Local postings: When announcing a local event, please put LOCAL and the location in the subject line, like this: Subject: LOCAL Baghdad: ILUG installfest Saturday Alternate archives and an RSS Feed for this list are available at GMane. Subscribing to linux-elitists
Subscribe to linux-elitists by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
