Good news for Science
Journal declarations of independence is a fortunate trend. Scientific journal editors are bailing from high-priced, access-restricted journals to go start freely available ones. For those who don't know, a science journal publisher doesn't write, edit, print, or distribute -- just sits back and collects money based on other people's reputations.
My nominees for Most Useless, Parasitic Companies in the world are Elsevier and Kluwer. Science doesn't need you. Get out of the way and go get real jobs.
