I have set up a quick-and-dirty virtual host with Brian Aker's mod_layout. Very easy. Just turn on the module, put in LayoutHeader and LayoutFooter directives, and Bob's your uncle. Either the header or footer can be a CGI script, so I did a "quote of the day" thing.
