Good set of links: The effect of open access and downloads ('hits') on citation impact: a bibliography of studies
Wow! Put it on the web and more people read and cite it. How about that.
And, taxpayers of the great state of -- any state that has a university, really -- Open Access means you're not paying professors to do editorial board service for journals that turn around and charge the university library for access.
