Hi people,
I'm not sure if this sort of post is allowed on this list so apologies
if this contravenes the etiquette conventions here.
We're a small startup developing a broadly distributed application which
requires an dht overlay network for information lookup. I've been
playing around with various open-source dht implementations, lurking in
this list and trying to find a good solution for the NAT traversal
issues. Many members have posted good suggestions for approaches to a
number of problems and it appears that there is the makings of a fairly
good (and I acknowledge that good is not perfect or even great) solution.
What we would like to do is engage someone to do some integration work
based on an existing code-base or even buy a commercial ready-to-go
implementation of dht node code which addresses NAT/Firewall traversal
issues using a mix of Firewall port-forwarding registration, hole
punching and proxy nodes (super-node) strategies. We would possibly be
interested in working with another organisations to achieve common goals
in this area. I appreciate that the search for a solution will be an
ongoing activity.
For questions, offers, suggestions or more information (a specification
document) please reply off-list (unless you think it is relevant to the
list).
Thanks - and apologies again if this post was inappropriate.
Greg
