hey, that's a resource discovery feature, not a bug!

in all seriousness, sometimes this is useful and desired, like
trackbacks in blogs, and sometimes it is a disastrous disclosure,
exposing a bunch of really bad attitudes, for example.  ;)

what would be nice is a simple way to toggle your wiki/site software
in one of two modes:
[ ] tell remote hosts my referrer details
[ ] do not disclose any information about me (referrer) to remote hosts

right now i have to use complicated proxy filtering rules to
accomplish this.  (which are still useful, but needlessly cumbersome. 
usually...)
