Surely you jest? There is essentially no distinction between the ‘com’,
‘org’, or ‘net’ TLDs apart from branding.

That's what people who gave money to the Diaspora project thought, too.
But it turns out they want to use that money to go “open core” instead

Why would calling oneself a “foundation” and having a dot-org domain
relieve the need to demonstrate actual free license terms on the entire
