Taken further, the permissiveness of GPLv2 with regard to TiVo-type
derivatives and redistribution does not necessarily have a bearing on
whether or not the FSF see that as a desirable outcome, any more than
Microsoft saw the refund obligations in the Windows 95 EULA as
desirable. Both licenses were later amended: the former to come into
better alignment with the FSF's charter, and the latter to maximise
Microsoft shareholder revenue. Neither case shows any clear signs of
duplicity that I can see.
