I read once that around 80% of Free and Open Source Software projects
used the GPL.

I wonder what percentage of those did it just because their mates did,
or just because J Random Famous Hacker did, without really
understanding the aims of the GNU Project and its General Public
License.

With that realisation, suddenly the insistence on calling the system
GNU/Linux makes more sense...
