there's a point at which making mass-market
graphics hardware better is pointless because of the
limitations of the human eye.

(Of course there will be a niche market for HUDs for
the genetically augmented bird warriors of the future
but you get the point)

Plug in the performance increase rate for graphics
hardware, add 20 years for patent expiration, and
you get the end date of this thread.
