begin Bret Martin quotation:
> How does an elitist properly deal with HTML e-mail?

/etc/mailcap says:

text/html; /usr/bin/w3m -dump -T text/html '%s'; copiousoutput; description=HTML Text; nametemplate=%s.html
text/html; /usr/bin/html2text '%s'; copiousoutput; description=HTML Text
text/html; /usr/bin/lynx -dump -force_html '%s'; copiousoutput; description=HTML Text; nametemplate=%s.html

And then /etc/Muttrc says:

auto_view text/html

Blammo, you solve the problem by reducing the HTML to plain
text, and you can even quote it in your reply.

> Where does this fall on the be-liberal-in-what-you-accept/
> be-conservative-in-what-you-send spectrum?

It's a losing battle trying to keep HTML out of e-mail, and
weak cries of "That's not what e-mail is FOR!" is a waste of breath.
