Seriously, do you consider what's happening to the web as a publishing 
infrastructure salvageable? Do you know why scientists still adhere to 
treekiller publishing, and why librarians only smile derisively when
someone mentions digital libraries?

Sure, go make jokes about it. See if it fixes the problem.
