So, 9000 mp3s, at what some average time t, times, say, 5,
for an awful case.

How long is the average mp3?  If these are single cuts,
at, say, three minutes, that's 135000 minutes, about three
months.  Hmm.  Yes, you're right, that's a lot of converting.

Sounds like a job for an old spare something-or-other sitting
in the corner and chugging away, with an NFS mount to the archive.
