That is a pretty big kernel though. The one that I run on my laptop
which is by no means austere is literally half that size.

ben@trill:~/$ ls -l /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.15-2
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       429175 May 20 08:50 /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.15-2

If I wanted a clean tight kernel I could get it down to around
300K. There you are starting to get into the range of the high end
embedded space.
